Maybe Baby?

December 3, 2008

I think Biscuit will be here before the weekend!!

Last night we bought the Maternity Acupressure book online that tells you different places to apply pressure.  Sounds silly, and I didn’t think it would work.  It may not have been what started my contractions, but it was worth a try!

About 1 AM I woke up and we started timing my contractions.  They were about 30 seconds long every 5 minutes.  They didn’t hurt *that* bad…. so I went back to sleep!  When I woke up I didn’t feel any more contractions, so I thought they fizzled out.  But when I finally got out of bed about 10:30 I can tell they are still going.  Timing them is REALLY hard to me.  My stomach stays hard for longer than it hurts.  Do you only time it when it hurts, or as long as your stomach is "contracting?"

okay OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW it’s 11:35 and that was one.

I can definitely feel them starting, but it is hard to tell when they stop!

OMG…. is this really happening?  This baby has no name!! hahahaha

I need to clean my room!

And pack my bag!

I have an appt at 3:50, did I say that already?  I can’t WAIT to see what they will say!

I promise to try to update.. I don’t know if the hospital has internet!  My sis will be the one updating… if there is anything to say!

Wish me luck!

Lab Results

November 7, 2008

I know I said earlier that my strep test was negative.  That was for my throat.  My other strep test, which they take before you have the baby was ALSO negative so I don’t have to have any antibotics in my IV.  YAY!

Small confession:  I was talking to my mom about her Carpel Tunnel surgery.  She is a VERY detail oriented person, who likes to described EVERYTHING in detail.  She was talking about her stiches etc… and I started feeling VERY queasy.  I am REALLY hoping now that I don’t have a C-section, because I have never had stiches before, but the mere thought of SOMEONE ELSE having stiches just makes me feel like I am going to faint.  Hmmm…. This should be interesting.

Tomorrow is Steph’s shower! YAY!  I am so excited!  I can’t wait to get off work and go help Mary.  I can’t say to much yet, because a lot of it is surprises for Steph- and she is a regular reader!! :)
haha love ya Steph, but I ain’t given up details!  YET…. tomorrow I promise pictures and details.

Love ya’ll.

Back from the Doctor

November 5, 2008

Okay, I can breathe easy now!

I went to the doctor a day early, I just wanted to MAKE SURE I wasn’t dilated.  That was what I was most worried about.

So…  I literally walked in and was weighed (lost a pound-which is good) blood pressure was 114/84 maybe?  Pulse was good.  She asked about baby movement and there has been a lot.

They did a test to see if I was positive for strep, if I was, they would be giving me antibiotics when I go into labor, because the baby can get the virus.  I won’t know the result for a few hours.

She checked my fundal height (which if you remember has always been a problem)  I was at 34!  Which is awesome, I was only 31 last week.  She didn’t cancel my ultrasound (yay!) but she said she felt VERY good about the 34 measurement.  She said, although I am small, being 2 cm +/- is accepable.

I described to her what I was feeling.  She assured me other women feel like this too, and as long as I don’t feel the pain intensifying or becoming regular, it should be okay.

She did an exam and I was NOT dilated (!!!)  I am 50% effaced and the cervix is soft (haha)

She tried to see if the head was down but it is SO FAR into my pelvis she couldn’t even feel it.  It is head down, she could tell by feeling the rest of the body, but her comment was: "I want to deliver this baby, this will be a great delivery, you have a great pelvis"  (So now I have had two people tell me I have a great pelvis…HAHA)

…..thanks?

Anyway.  right now Biscuit is rocking and rolling….  streching and pushing, giving soft punches letting me know it’s doing okay in there.

Thanks to my mom for going with me, that was really nice!  I would NOT like to go alone, I can’t remember everything they say and I can’t remember to ask all the questions.

I feel much better.  And now I can’t wait to see Baby C on Sunday!!!

33 week appt

October 17, 2008

Today I had my 33 week appointment!  Greg was in Baltimore, but that was okay, the appointment would have gone by really fast, but I had TONS of questions for her this time!! haha  she was teasing me that I had written them all down!  She had all the answers that I was looking for, which put my mind at EASE!  My fundal height was 31 (should be 33) but I am measuring small!  I have gained 30 lbs!! haha  She asked me where it was…. I have no idea?  Packed in the car….?  They gave me my medical records that the cover sheet says to keep in my purse and have at all times.  It is a little pressure.  What if I forget.  Hey, I will just make a few copies so I don’t worry.  Genius.

I am so excited about the shower Saturday with my fam!  Should be a lot of fun ;)

Birthing Class

October 12, 2008

We just got back from our birthing class and I am wiped out.  8:30-6:45 is a lot of information!  Greg and I both have colds, which didn’t help, but it was a great class and we are both very glad we went.  The majority of the class talked about pain management, and they really pushed for a natural birth.  It was nice to learn some techniques, my favorite part was the messages! ;)   We have to practice those!  haha.

Some of the things were awkward, some were just gross…  but that is birth I guess.

We stopped by Greg’s parents and his mom had finished the crib skirt, so I brought it home, it is so beautiful!  I can’t wait to have it all together, I will post pics when I do!!

“Good News”

October 7, 2008

That was what I wanted to hear!  I called the Dr. Office and my preliminary results came back and in her words…"Good News!"  Amniotic fluid levels were good, cervix length is 3 cm, baby was measuring at 31 weeks 2 days (Friday was 31 weeks 1 day) so no change in due date!  No risk of placenta previa detected either.

Whewwwww… :::Sigh of relief:::

My apologies for not posting the new ultrasound pictures yet, they will up tomorrow, I PROMISE! :) :)

Dr. Visit and Hospital Tour

October 3, 2008

Just got back from the doctor, and they didn’t SAY anything was wrong, but I don’t really know if they would have anyway! :)   On a positive note, we did get to see Baby C- just the face- very close up.  We could see lots of blinking, mouth movement, hands close to the face, in the mouth etc.  The weirdest thing was when it stuck it’s tounge out, pretty far….  Who knew you could see a tounge on ultrasound?  We saw the heart, and from looking at the screen, every measurement she took of the head showed I was 30-33 weeks along, so it is the right size.  One thing she did do was measure my cervix, but she didn’t say whether or not the measurement was good.  A radiologist has to look at the results and they will either post them online, or give me a call! :)   Overall, I was confident things went well.

We did the hospital tour last night…. talk about funny!  Someone I work with (a deputy) was there and I have seen him at the Dr. office before!  I asked if he was following me! hee hee….  We had a lot of questions answered… one of the biggest surprises is that the hospital does not have a well-baby nursery, meaning the baby is supposed to stay in your room with you all of the time.  You are in one room to fill out the paperwork, and answer questions for about an hour while you are monitored, and this is also your labor and delivery room.  They do all the measurements, bathing etc in this room also.  After the baby is born they move you to your "room" where you will stay anywhere between 24-48 hours, or 72 if you have a c-section.  You have to keep the IV in until you can go to the bathroom 3 times with your nurse, so I will definitely be on that.  The sight of an IV makes me faint!! haha

They have a baby monitoring system, so it is hard to steal a baby.  I wanted to ask if anyone had ever tried, but didn’t….  One of the couples was having twin girls!  She was pretty small for having twins, but the daddy was very on top of his game with the questions.  One other dad asked about circumcision…. hahaha that was really funny.  They do that the day you go home.  Hmmmmm…. am I forgetting anything?  One thing the labor and delivery nurse said was that there were only RN’s and no LPN’s… I am guessing that is good?  I think RN’s have more training… And she also said Nurse-midwives are more leniant… in what ways I am not sure!

Plans for the weekend are……undetermined.  I would like to go to Big Canoe Saturday night and go to Chapel Sunday morning, since our anniversary IS Tuesday!  And Sunday we have a family get together.  My goal is to relax and keep my feet up… :)

They called!

October 2, 2008

I have my appointment, Friday at 8:00!  Will post results when I know!

Greg slept horribly last night which meant I slept the same.  I hope we get a good nights sleep tonight or I am going in the guest room! :)   (taking the dogs with me too!)

I have had a lot of heartburn the last few days.  Suggestions are to not drink while eating (no way) not to lay down after eating (seriously? I eat horizontal!)  and to take tums… yummmm

I am feeling less and less comfortable, almost daily!  Breathing is hard, walking is harder, staying awake is harder, figuring out what I feel like eating… ;)

9 more weeks…. 9 more weeks… 9 more weeks….
